Solar outdoor lights come in a wide variety and can be categorized according to function, design, and installation method. Understanding these types can help you choose the right lights for roads, patios, gardens, or public spaces.

1. Classification by function and installation location.

This is the most common and intuitive classification method.

1. Solar Patio Lawn Lights.

Characteristics: Short and compact, typically inserted directly into the lawn or garden soil. Soft light, primarily used for outlining paths, flower bed edges, or decorating lawns.

Suitable Scenarios: Garden paths, lawn centers, flower bed edges.

Appearance: Diverse, including mushroom, spherical, and stone shapes, all decorative.

2. Garden Lights/Landscape Lights.

Features: Larger than lawn lights, providing a wider illumination range. It boasts a strong design aesthetic, serving as both a lighting tool and a landscape decoration.

Suitable Scenarios: Courtyard corners, doorways, driveways, green belts.

Appearance: Available in various styles including modern minimalist, Chinese, and European.

3. Solar Wall Lights.

Features: Installed on walls, fences, or pillars. Provides functional lighting, such as illuminating porches, corridors, or terraces.

Suitable Scenarios: Villa exterior walls, courtyard fences, garage doors, balconies.

Appearance: Square, round, antique lantern shapes, etc.

4. Solar Floodlights.

Characteristics: Concentrated light, adjustable beam angle, high brightness. Typically used to illuminate specific objects or areas.

Suitable Scenarios: Illuminating building facades, trees, sculptures, signs, or for courtyard safety lighting.

Note: Some high-brightness floodlights may require larger solar panel areas.

5. Solar Decorative String Lights/String Lights.

Features: Composed of multiple small LED lights connected by wires, creating a romantic and warm atmosphere.

Suitable Scenarios: Wrap-around patio trellises, railings, trees, and fences for party decorations.

Appearance: Available in various shapes, such as bulb, star, and wheat ear shapes.

6. Solar-Powered Mosquito Repellent Lamp.

Function: Based on a regular solar lamp, it adds purple light waves (biomimetic ultraviolet light) and/or a fan to attract, capture, or repel mosquitoes.

Suitable Scenarios: Patios, patio lounge areas, doorways, and other outdoor spaces requiring mosquito control.

7. Solar-Powered Streetlights/High Pole Lights.

Features: High pole height (usually over 2 meters), high brightness, and wide illumination range. Typically equipped with a large-capacity battery and larger solar panels.

Suitable Scenarios: Rural roads, community access roads, parking lots, and large courtyard entrances.

8. Solar-Powered Security Sensor Lights/Monitoring Lights.

Function: Built-in human body sensor module automatically lights up (or brightens) when movement is detected, and returns to a dim or off state after the person leaves. Some high-end models also have an integrated camera.

Suitable Scenarios: Yard corners, garage doors, backyard gates, and other areas requiring security warnings.

9. Solar Decorative Ambient Lighting.

Features: Stylish design, primarily used to create a specific atmosphere, complemented by lighting effects.

Suitable Scenarios: Hanging on tree branches, placed on tables, or placed in corners of yards.

Appearance: For example, solar lanterns, solar flame lights, animal-shaped lights, etc.

2. Classification by Technical Characteristics.

1. Split-type Solar Lights.

Features: The solar panel and lamp head are separate, connected by wires. Its advantage is that the solar panel can be placed in the optimal location to fully utilize sunlight, while the lamp head can be installed in a shady area requiring illumination.

Suitable Scenarios: When the installation location has special lighting requirements, such as certain floodlights and high-mast streetlights.

2. Integrated Solar Lights. Features: The solar panel and lamp body are integrated into one unit, making installation convenient and the appearance uniform. Most household solar lights on the market fall into this category.

Applicability: Suitable for most household scenarios, such as lawn lights, garden lights, and wall lights.

3. Smart Solar Lights.

Functions: Can be controlled via a mobile app and remote control, enabling functions such as dimming, color gradient, timer on/off, and mode switching (always on/sensor/flickering).

Suitable for: Users seeking a convenient and personalized lighting experience.
