In solar street lights, LED optical lenses are key components that determine lighting effects, energy efficiency, and uniformity. Its design directly affects the shape of the light spot, the range of illumination, glare control, etc., and plays a key role in the propagation and control of light. There are many types of LED optical lenses, each with its own unique characteristics and application scenarios.
1. PMMA lens (polymethyl methacrylate):
Features: This lens has good optical transparency and weather resistance, and high transmittance (≥92%) is suitable for applications that require high transmittance. PMMA lenses are usually lighter and easier to process, but have lower high temperature resistance. They are usually used in indoor LED lighting fixtures.
2. PC lens (polycarbonate):
Features: PC lenses have excellent impact resistance and high temperature resistance (-40℃~120℃), and are often used in environments that require high strength and durability. However, the transmittance is slightly lower (about 88%), and the actual output lumens will be somewhat compromised in the overall test. However, under extreme climatic conditions, such as strong ultraviolet rays, high cold, large temperature differences, or environments susceptible to external impact, the performance is better. Therefore, it is widely used in outdoor lamps, and Solway solar street lights all use this lens.
3. Glass lens:
Features: Glass lens has the best light transmittance (usually more than 97%) and excellent high temperature resistance, but it is relatively heavy and fragile, and the manufacturing cost is also high. It is mainly used in products that require precise light distribution.
4 Silicone lens:
Features: Silicone lenses have high heat resistance and can withstand high temperature environments. They are small in size, so they are usually directly packaged on LED chips or used in small LED lamps.
These lens types can achieve specific light distribution effects through different optical designs to meet various lighting needs. Choosing the right lens type needs to be based on the specific application scenario, environmental conditions and optical requirements.
By properly selecting lenses, the lighting efficiency of solar street lights can be increased by more than 30%, while reducing energy consumption and light pollution.
