Color temperature selection of solar street light poles

Time:2025-05-07 Views:

For the selection of solar street lights, color temperature has a very important impact on people's visual comfort. In actual use, different color temperatures will have different effects on the human body. The color temperature selection of solar street light poles mainly depends on its application scenario and expected effect. Color temperature refers to the color temperature of the light emitted by the LED light source, abbreviated as CCT in English, usually expressed in Kelvin (K). Different color temperatures will bring different visual and psychological feelings to people.

The color temperature selection of solar street light poles needs to be weighed according to the specific application scenario and environmental requirements.

The following are some main reference standards:

The basic concept of color temperature

Color temperature unit: Kelvin (K), the lower the value, the warmer the light color (yellow/red), and the higher the value, the colder (white/blue).

Common range:

Warm yellow light 3000K: similar to incandescent light or dusk light, giving people a warm and comfortable feeling

Warm white light 4000K: close to daylight, yellowish white, soft light

Natural white light 5000K: close to midday daylight, full white and bright

Cold white light 6000K-6500K: bluish white, high contrast, pure white and cool

1. Recommended street lights for residential areas/residential areas

Recommended color temperature: 2700K–4000K (yellow light to warm white light)

It can create a warm atmosphere and reduce the interference of blue light on biological rhythms. It is suitable for areas that require quietness and comfort. This color temperature range is basically selected for courtyard lighting. It not only guarantees basic lighting, but also avoids the impact of light pollution on residents' sleep.

2. Recommended street lights for commercial areas/urban main roads

Recommended color temperature: 4000K–5000K (natural light to neutral white light)

Slightly higher color temperature can provide a brighter visual experience and enhance the contrast of objects. It is suitable for roads with heavy traffic or high-brightness lighting and high recognition. This range is in line with the upper limit of color temperature recommended by China's "Urban Road Lighting Design Standard" (not exceeding 5000K), and is also commonly used internationally.

3. Special considerations

Safety balance: Although pure white light (5000-5700K) can improve alertness, excessive use may affect pedestrian comfort and needs to be combined with the color rendering index (CRI) for comprehensive evaluation. Choose LED lamp beads with CRI ≥ 70 to ensure the true color of objects (especially in the monitoring area).

Avoid too high color temperature: 6000K is a universal cold white light with a slightly blue tone, which presents a cool feeling. It is very bright and suitable for road places where concentration is required. Higher than 6000K may produce glare, increase the risk of light pollution, and interfere with the night ecology.

4. Trends and standards

International trends: Some early projects adopted 6000K–6500K, but in recent years, they prefer 4000K–5000K to balance comfort and functionality.

Specification reference: Chinese standards clearly give priority to medium and low color temperatures to avoid the negative impact of high color temperature light sources.

Solway summary

When choosing, the regional functions, safety requirements and environmental protection requirements of solar street lights should be combined. 3000K–4000K should be used in residential areas, 4000K–5000K should be used in commercial areas, and local lighting road design specifications should be followed.
